Who are we?
The Washington State University Water Resources Club explores the different fields that deal with issues around water and exposes students to opportunities to help the community and further pursue their passion for water-based problems. We welcome all students under VCEA, Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture, as well as environmental and other majors interested in water issues!
What are we doing?
Over the course of the next three years, WRC is participating in the Adopt-A-Stream campaign to clean up the Dry Fork Creek along South Grand Avenue from Fairmont Rd. Students, members of WRC, and community members will join together to clean up the litter that is being collected alongside the stream and inside. A major part of our club is community service, and this clean-up will be the foundation. The stream will be cleaned up four times annually, scheduled in August, October, February, and April. There is no fee to clean the stream or for any rental equipment we would be using! This will be an engaging routine management of a local stream where WSU students and community members clean up an aspect of our environment that is truly warranted, give back to their community, and meet new people who have the same interest in helping clean our environment.
We hope to fundraise the money we need in order to provide no fees for any students and to ensure that we have all the equipment paid for.
Your help:
Donations made will help us make sure our goal is met to provide students and community members with the needed equipment for an annual clean-up that betters our stream and environment!
In order to complete our stream cleanup, we will need trash bags to collect all of the trash! Your donation will be used to buy trash bags for our team to use during the 3 annual cleanups that are required of our stream segment!
Our students are wanting to adopt the last available stream in the Adopt-A-Stream Program, it hasn't been adopted for a few years and is in great need to be cleaned! This will pay for the annual adoption fee to keep our stream! It is a great opportunity for our students to give back to an amazing community that has allowed and encouraged our WSU Students.
Our stream segment is along a highway and our students need protection! Your donation will help provide safety supplies for our students such as gloves, safety vests, safety sunglasses, and garbage picking tongs!
Some of the trash can be far out of reach for our students and to ensure we stay dry your donation will supply some of our students with adult waders! This will allow us to walk along the steep slopes of the stream and also protect us from ripping our pants that might get caught!
This level will provide waders, safety gear, and trash bags necessary to help keep the stream clean for years to come!
