The French Club at Washington State University has been an active RSO for the past three years. We are a cultural-based club, meaning our events do not require anybody to speak French. Rather, we want to showcase French and Francophone culture through fun, hands-on activities. That being said food is an important part of French culture. We provide food (desserts, cheese, charcuterie, etc.) at our events to honor traditions that are close to the hearts of many French folks.
Last year Adam Atalig, an officer of the French Club, decided to open up the food pantry with help from other officers and our advisor at the time, Prof. Mark Black. After witnessing food insecurity himself, Adam wanted to create a space where students could access food and not worry about where they were going to get their next meal. Approximately 50% of students have experienced food insecurity during their time in college. That number is unacceptable, and we want to change that.
Without our basic needs being met it is difficult to focus on anything else, such as academics. We are asking for your gift so that students will get what they need to thrive in college, not just survive.
With your donation, you will not only give a student a meal; you will be giving them the peace of mind that they need to succeed in college. The French Club at WSU thanks you for your generosity and grace. From us to you, merci beaucoup!
This is 2 meals for students! You are as sweet as a Pain au Chocolat (chocolate croissant), and we would really appreciate your gift. Merci beaucoup! (Pays for 1-2 meals)
This level is a meal for 3 students! Making this donation would make you a true friend, perhaps you are sweet (or even a bit nutty!) just like this delicious, delicate French cookie. Merci beaucoup!
This would be a wonderful gift! This gift means you are a thoughtful individual; as warm and comforting as this delicious stew. You are the meat and potatoes that help this project succeed. Merci beaucoup! (This donation pays for 5 meals)
This would be a magnificent gift; students will not go hungry on your watch! This savory and rich dish would be just as comforting as you are. Merci beaucoup! This donation pays for about 10-15 meals.
What an amazing contribution this would make! Just like the gastrique that goes with this dish, you would be more sweet than sour. Merci beaucoup for this wonderful gift. (This pays for about 25 meals)
What a feast! With your one donation, you would have paid for about 100 meals for students. You would cover everything from the first course of soup, all the way to a tasty madeleine dessert with a palate cleanser in between. Merci beaucoup!
