About the International Mother Language Day 2024 (IMLD 2024)
International Mother Language Day is observed commemorating the sacrifice of the civilian citizen of Bangladesh (then East Pakistan) in the language movement during 1952. This event was proclaimed by the General Conference of the UN’s Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in November 1999 and then welcomed the proclamation of the day in its resolution of 2002. The day is celebrated "to promote the preservation and protection of all languages used by peoples of the world.”  The day emphasizes in  strengthening co-operation and attaining quality education for all, in building inclusive knowledge societies and preserving cultural heritage, and in mobilizing community will for applying the benefits of science and technology to sustainable development.
