The Plant Pathology Graduate Student Organization (PLPGSO) represents M.S. and Ph.D. students of the Department of Plant Pathology. Our organization supports and advocates for its membership professionally, academically, and socially to build a skilled community of plant scientists - for members based both in Pullman and at other WSU campuses and Research and Extension facilities (REC) (i.e., Mount Vernon, Prosser, Puyallup, and Wenatchee). The PLPGSO seeks to foster connections with the faculty and staff in our department and with other departments and organizations. Learn more about what we do here.
PLPGSO Student-Invited Speaker Event is held every semester. Invitees are selected by our members, from leading scientists in plant pathology in the US, including faculty members from other universities, lead scientists from USDA, and other research institutes. We aim to create opportunities for students to interact and network with scientists from different institutions right-here at WSU! Members of PLPGSO will interact with the speaker over a lunch meeting, two dinner events, a seminar, and one-on-one meetings. Multiple interactions with our invited speaker educate students on potential career paths and skills necessary to achieve specific career goals. The seminar portion of the event is open to all students, staff, and faculty of the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences, extending the impact of our event beyond our membership.
Your donations support the career development of future plant scientists who will contribute to safeguarding global food security. Thank you for your support!
Your gift of $10 helps cover the cost of lunch with our invited speaker for a single student! You're allowing students to get first hand information about their field from outside experts with diverse backgrounds.
Your gift of $20 allows us to sponsor a single student to attend a small dinner with our invited speaker. Informal discussions over dinner create the opportunity for students to build personal and professional relationships with the invited speaker. Donations like yours help us make that opportunity accessible to our entire membership.
A gift of $100 helps us cover travel and lodging expenses for our invited speaker. Your gift allows us to bring invited speakers directly to our campus and maximize both learning and networking opportunities for our members.
