Crimson Game Jam is Here!

First time hearing about the Crimson Game Jam? If so you may not have heard of our club. We are the Game Development Club at WSU! Our shared passion of video games and our urge of creativity and use of technical knowledge brought us as students together, forming our club today. Releasing a video game title through game development depends on many different disciplines: Artists, Programmers, Designers, Musicians, and so many more. We drive to give those who participate in our club creative outlets so they can prosper, and by showing them what they can achieve through our hosted events and meetings.

This will be our fourth time hosting the Crimson Game Jam, and we are so thrilled to see what our participants create next! What's the Crimson Game Jam? "Crimson" comes from our beautiful school colors, however "Game Jam" is an event where participants of many disciplines get together or go solo in a competition to create a finished game in under just 48 hours! Each game jam is tied to a theme which all participants are forced to build their game around. In our previous crimson game jams we've brought in a guest speaker that has had experience in the gaming industry during our opening ceremony before we announce the theme and start the 48 hour timer. We do so to motivate and educate the participants before they endure the challenges to come, and want to continue this tradition for this crimson game jam. The submissions of our previous participants are always so creative, funny, and heart-racing, revealing the amount of work and knowledge gained from the experience. We are constantly striving to create improved experiences to the game jam for the participants. With our previous crimson game jam we reached our goal of having a venue for the entire duration, day and night, in the Sloan Building. With this said, we still dream of the spark building becoming home to our annual crimson game jam. Another goal we were able to accomplish was the abundance of development-sustaining food, snacks, and drinks during our opening ceremony but as the night approached so did the end of the food supply. We are hoping for this crimson game jam we get to serve these amenities all through out the 48 hour development process. The only reason we could achieve any of the previous goals was from your support so we know we cannot do this alone - we are asking for your further support to make this another successful event!  

By contributing to our crowdfunding campaign, you'll help provide the essential resources, the venue, and the food and snacks to keep our developers fueled and focused. This is truly an event of all-out, non-stop (all-night) learning -- it can be supercharged with help from you! 90% of participants voted a 5 out of 5 when asked how much they learned during the first Crimson Game Jam experience. Together, we'll foster a community of innovation and teamwork, inspiring students to explore their passion for game development.
