Description
WHAT: The Willed Body Ceremony is an annual gathering hosted by the Gold Humanism Honor Society to honor those who have entrusted their bodies to the anatomy education of future generations of healthcare professionals at WSU Spokane. It brings together donors’ families, friends, students, and faculty in gratitude and remembrance.
WHY: These connections foster humility, compassion, and a deeper sense of responsibility, and shape our future healthcare professionals who carry both clinical knowledge and humanistic care into their work. It is a time for reflection that every anatomy lesson is also a lesson in humanity, and a celebration of each donor's life and the profound generosity of their gift.
WHO: GHHS is a national honor society founded by The Arnold P. Gold Foundation to recognize and support medical trainees who exemplify the qualities of kind, safe, trustworthy care with a focus on excellence, compassion, altruism, respect, and empathy. At WSU Spokane, we are a student organization that organizes the Willed Body Ceremony as a way to uphold the principles of GHHS in the student community and all the people who make our learning possible.
With your support, we want to hold this meaningful event for donor families and students. This year, we want to connect with alumni, faculty, and the WSU community to fundraise for this meaningful ceremony. We kindly ask for your donation to our CougStart fund. Your gift to the Willed Body Ceremony and GHHS will go towards the ceremony, reception, and creating a Donor Thank You book filled with artwork and messages from students that is gifted to the donor families at the ceremony.
